Paraffin, microcrystalline- and synthetic waxes, as well as petrolatum are employed as corrosion protection of various metals.

Sasol Wax is able to offer a wide range of base components for the production of solvent- or water - based corrosion protection compounds.
These products may also be blended with synthetic polymers and resins and/or combined with anti-corrosion agents. In addition to the above mentioned blends, some corrosion protection formulations may also contain saponified, oxidized and esterified paraffin waxes. For this chemical modification we offer our specialty designed products as well.

Comprehensive application ranges for this group of products, in addition to corrosion protectives in the automotive industry, include
those of cutting fluid, drawing oils and greases in metal processing and the extensive lubricant sector.

Wax dispersions are required for temporary corrosion protection e.g. for cars during transportation. After spraying, they form a waxy film which protects from corrosion and scratches.
After use this waxy layer can be removed from the originally shining surface.
