1950 Founding of SASOL, Sasolburg/South Africa as state-owned organisation

1955 Start of the synthetic production of petrol, diesel and other fuels from coal

1976 Construction of a second production plant in Secunda/South Africa for the production of fuel and chemicals

1979 Privatisation Listing of SASOL shares on the Johannesburg stock exchange. Construction of a third production plant in Secunda/South Africa for the production of fuels and chemicals

1982 Combination of production facilities II and III into "Sasol Synthetic Fuels Ltd.", Secunda/South Africa

1990 Restructuring of the first production plant, SASOL One, into "Sasol Chemical Industries Limited", Sasolburg/South Africa Focus on the production of waxes and high value chemicals

1993 Founding of "Sasol Waxes" as a business unit of Sasol Chemical Industries Limited

1995 Founding of SCHÜMANN SASOL International AG, Hamburg/Germany, a combination of the wax activities of the Hans-Otto Schümann group and Sasol Waxes

2002 Complete takeover of SCHÜMANN SASOL International AG through Sasol Holding in Germany GmbH

2003 SCHÜMANN SASOL International AG is renamed to Sasol Wax International AG. Most legal entities of the group change their names accordingly.
