Sasol Wax is able to offer a wide range of paraffin-, microcrystalline- and Fischer-Tropsch waxes suited to impregnate, laminate or coat different paper stocks.

Paraffin wax coatings in the corrugated board and paper industry provide an additional barrier against transmission of moisture,
microorganisms and foreign odors. They also preserve the aroma and flavour of the packed goods. These coatings are used for the packaging of food like fruit, fish, meat, vegetables or sweets as well as non-food articles.
Depending on the application requirements these wax coatings may be blended with additives (e.g. saturating waxes and curtain coating waxes) or applied as they are (e.g. impregnating waxes).

Wax is used to coat paper used in the production of disposable plates or cups and is also ideally suited for coating frozen food containers. Laminated paper, in combination with aluminium foil, is used for wrapping foodstuffs where the fat content may migrate e.g. in dairy and vegetable products.
Some wax emulsions also act as sizing agents in news- and magazine paper and pulp production.
