The long-term stability of rolled asphalt is markedly improved by the addition of Sasobit®. Rut formation is prevented or minimised. The risk of aquaplaning is reduced. Accidents are avoided. In short, Sasobit® improves road safety.
The reduction in the viscosity of the asphalt mix means:
Improved compactibility. In some circumstances compaction is possible down to temperatures as low as 100° C. A marked increase in the degree of compaction for the same roller loading. Good compaction means longer service life. A reduction in emissions e.g. bitumen fumes and aerosols. Energy savings through temperature reductions of 20 to 30° C and also a decrease in damaging CO2 emissions. Physical Properties of SMB Blends Compared to Basic Bitumen
