Passing the baton on 1 February 2008

On 1 February 2008, Dr. Thomas Lüdemann is to take over the management of Sasol Wax GmbH from Helmuth Schulze-Trautmann.

Dr. Lüdemann's most recent position was as managing director of MERKUR Vaseline Joint Ventures, which was completely taken over by Sasol Wax GmbH at the beginning of the year. During the start of his career, Dr. Lüdemann worked for the former Condea Chemie at the company's Hamburg, Houston and Brunsbüttel locations. Following the takeover of Condea, Dr. Lüdemann came to Sasol, where he was involved in the Olefins & Surfactants and Solvents divisions.

Helmuth Schulze-Trautmann is now retiring after 18 years spent managing the wax business in Hamburg and South Africa. His era saw the successful reorientation of Sasol Wax GmbH to become the leading specialist in the paraffin business, with a corresponding shift in focus to industrial applications.
